One of my favorite months is right around the corner… October! It’s the month where it really starts to feel like Fall, and what better way to spread that fall feeling, than with a festive bulletin board, or door!
There are SO many cute bulletin board ideas out there, but my favorite are the ones that are more than just cute. I love creating bulletin boards that are colorful, fun, and meaningful.
So, without further ado, here are 3 October bulletin board ideas that are more than just cute:
- We say BOO to a Fixed Mindset
This bulletin board not only makes an adorable display, but it also provides a growth mindset activity.
For this display, attach the phrase, “We say BOO to a fixed mindset” to your bulletin board or door. Then you attach a haunted house and some grass.
Then pass out a page filled with growth mindset quotes so that your students can become more familiar with growth mindset mantras. Then, what I like to do – instead of just asking them to pick a favorite – is to have them answer questions about one of the quotes. It helps them not only pick out a quote that stands out to them, but it also helps them make a connection with the quote they’ve picked. (If you’re teaching younger kids, you might skip this part and just have a classroom discussion).

Once students have answered questions about their growth mindset quote, pass out a ghost to each student. You can easily find printable ghosts by doing a Google search. Or, my favorite ghosts are these ghosts by Melonheadz:
When students get their ghost, they write their name and their favorite quote. Then their ghosts get added to your bulletin board, leaving the CUTEST growth mindset display:
- Our class is faBOOlous
This October classroom display is stinking adorable AND implements positive affirmations. Here’s what you do:
Add the phrase, “Our class is faBOOlous” to your bulletin board or door. Add a banner and haunted house for more color and fun.
Then create an affirmation station by typing multiple affirmations that start with “I am” onto circles (or whatever shape). Place them around a mirror.
Then, have students pick one that stood out to them and have them write it in a ghost. To make it even more adorable, print pictures of your students’ faces and have your students BE the ghosts!
When you’re all done, you’ll have a display filled with THE CUTEST ghosts who are (hopefully) embracing positive things about themselves. (The kids who resist the affirmation station need it the most!)
You could also use the phrase, “We are the BOO crew.” Here is an example of what that would look like:
- Our class is APPLE-solutely the best
And last, but not least, is a FALL bulletin board that you can use the entire season.
Add the phrase, “Our class is APPLE-solutely the best” and then give students apples that say, “What I love most about our class is:”
